How to make your personal blog trustworthy? In my previous post I wrote how important personalization of your personal blog is. Not only the content of your personal blog, but almost each element of your WordPress template indicates your attitude to playwriting. If your personal blog looks like an average WordPress template, it remains an average template, no matter how interesting your content seems to you.

Today I want to discuss the main indicators of your attitude to those who read your personal blog. In other words, what elements of your WordPress blog can be personalized and what should a good blogger keep in mind when developing his personal blog.

  1. Your nickname. Imagine, you share the opinions of those who fight for clean and safe environment, and you’ve got some fresh ideas on ecological topic. I do believe that people are likely to read the posts of WhiteDove rather than those of GreenFighter. For some reason most people try to avoid aggression.

Still, the highest level of personalization would be using your personal name. A nick, consisting of your first and second name signals your readers that you are a real person and, what is more important, that you are an honest person, as you have nothing to hide from them.

  1. Your photo. A good practice for your personal blog is having a photo of yours at the main page or in the page header. A photo not only denotes the owner of a personal blog, it also creates a visual image of its author. Psychologists state, that words pronounced face to face are perceived much easier and faster than those, said by somebody out of the listener’s sight. You see the speaker and form your subconscious impression of his appearance. And if you like what you see, you are sure to treat his words with more trust. On the pages of your personal WordPress blog your photo is the representative of your personality. Having a photo of the author is a powerful mean to create the author’s image as well as the readers attitude to him, his posts and the blog as a whole.
  2. Photo gallery. WordPress blog templates have perfect opportunities to introduce you to online public. One of the most powerful features is that a WordPress template can be accompanied by a photo gallery. Photos, uploaded to this section of your personal blog in chronological order, show your readers, what kind of life you live. With the help of your pictures you show your audience that you’re an ordinary person, just like them. And that’s what they really want to find at your blog.
  3. About page. It is a very good practice to create a separate About page for any kind of websites. Personal blogs aren’t an exclusion. Let your visitors know, who you are, where you live and what you believe in. This info is a great way to get like-minded people and just new friends.
  4. Manner of narration. This is one of the most important factors bloggers often forget about. Your personal blog is like your personal room in your personal house. You are at home. At home you don’t have to behave as if you’re in the office. Same thing with your blog posts. You don’t have to show your readers that you are smart. This is not the reason why you have purchased your WordPress template. Probably you want to share your personal world with others, share your thoughts, ideas, likes and dislikes. You want to find new friends this way. I doubt that you started your personal blog to find a new job or sell your property. Same way your readers feel. That’s why least of all they expect official tone in your posts. When you have an idea for a new post, imagine how you would tell it your friend, with all those funny expressions and slang we usually use in our everyday speech. Believe me, this is the best method to write content for your personal blog.
  5. Links. If you have already understood the necessity of search engine optimization, you must know what link building means and how important it is for the promotion of your personal blog. You understand that all links (external and internal) should contain key phrases. I would also recommend you to express in the anchor texts your personal attitude to the resources you link to. For example, instead of meagre wording “Web templates” you can have “Great web templates resource” – your attitude to this site becomes transparent.
